About the Project

I am starting this blog, which is basically a record of my process while re-building an old Peugeot (approximately late 70's) Racing Bike, into a capable touring bike. I would hope that my experiences would help/inspire others in similar pursuits.

I undertook this project for various reasons. The first being that I wanted to restore this old bike which had been left at the back of my father's garage since about 2000. Secondly, I have never been particularly good at bicycle mechanics and thought it would be an ideal way of teaching myself how to build, maintain and repair bicycles.

The frame is in pretty good shape, however my dad resprayed in black when the bike was disassembled. Unfortunately because the frame has been on the floor for several years and has been knocked about the paint job has considerable damage. So I decided to take all the old paint off and perform a complete respray, with peugeot decals (which thankfully were found quite easily on ebay).
